How to Apply

Your legal career starts here

Stikeman Elliott’s Toronto office participates in the annual 2L summer student recruitment process.

Please include a cover letter, resume, official academic transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended (scanned copies of original transcripts are sufficient; hard copies are not required) and a list of current and proposed upper year course selections. We happily accept reference letters, but they are not required. We also do not require any writing samples.

We only accept applications for summer law student positions through the viLaw Portal. Cover letters should be addressed to the attention of:

Natasha Bhimji
Director, Student Programs
Stikeman Elliott LLP
5300 Commerce Court West
199 Bay Street
Toronto, ON M5L 1B9

Stikeman Elliott welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities as part of our hiring process. If you have special requirements, please advise us during the recruitment process. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in any aspect of the selection process.

After we receive your application

We will acknowledge receipt of your application with an email. For summer student candidates at law schools where we participate in OCIs, your school will inform you directly about whether you will be meeting with us. After meeting with candidates, we will contact you by email to let you know whether you will be receiving a call on Call Day. For summer student candidates at schools where we don’t participate in OCIs, we will contact you by email if we would like to set up a Skype interview prior to Call Day.

For summer student in-firm interview week, we hold first interviews on Tuesday or Wednesday, and follow-up interviews on Wednesday and Thursday. We suggest that you allow for a two-hour interview timeslot at the firm for first interviews, and one hour for follow-up interviews. This will give you enough time to meet with a variety of lawyers and students and get a real sense of our office culture.

Get in touch

Our Student Programs Director can assist with any questions you may have about our student program. You may also contact the members of the Students Committee and other lawyers at the firm.
