Community Citizenship

Progressive and involved community citizens

Our people drive community involvement initiatives

Community volunteerism is a key element of life at Stikeman Elliott and a sense of social responsibility is deeply ingrained in the Toronto office. We are involved at both the firm level and the personal level in a wide variety of causes and organizations that reflect the passions and interests of our people.

All firm members are encouraged to engage in our communities at the grassroots level and to support charities and groups that matter to them personally. Tell us what issues and organizations are important to you and we’ll help you give back. For instance, when you donate your time or money to a cause or charitable organization, we will make a matching financial contribution in recognition of your efforts.

An active pro bono program

Students and lawyers in Toronto participate in a multi-faceted pro bono program that puts our legal expertise to work by helping disadvantaged individuals and groups, or advancing social justice causes.

Stikeman Elliott contributes by acting as pro bono counsel to a wide variety of organizations, representing a range of marginalized groups before the courts, and sitting on the boards of charities and not-for-profit organizations. We are also active members of the Osgoode Business Clinic, assisting small business owners with their legal business needs.

Serious about green initiatives

A commitment to environmental sustainability is not a recent trend for us. Over the years, we have made real changes in order to reduce Stikeman Elliott’s environmental impact. Since 2008, we have reduced our environmental footprint by 13%, and each year we challenge ourselves to improve on our previous benchmarks.
